Chihuahua

The Chihuahua is the smallest dog breed in the world, but it is famous for a personality that feels much larger than its size. Compact, alert, and expressive, the breed is known for devotion to its people, quick reactions, and a spirited sense of self-importance that many owners find irresistible. In modern households, Chihuahuas are often ideal for people who want close companionship in a very small package. They can adapt well to smaller homes and city living, but they still need training, socialization, and careful handling. Because they are so small, they are more fragile than larger breeds and not always a natural fit for rough play or careless treatment. For many owners, though, the Chihuahua's appeal lies precisely in that contrast between tiny body and enormous personality.
